Characters are well rounded and compelling and the setting is written vividly.
Abrupt changes of POV left me confused. The scene, and main POV would shift suddenly. I had to go back a few paragraphs and confirm that in fact we had just shifted from Jaken to King Ward with no break, chapter or at least a ~~~~ between paragraphs to indicate we were shifting gears. Not sure if this is a issue, or if it was in fact published this way. The biggest problem with this book is the shift in POV. It was done poorly and left me irritated. But I liked the characters enough to push through the annoyances. I am hoping book two is written with better technique.
